Give your smile the makeover it deserves. Dental veneers can help.veneers

Are you dealing with certain cosmetic flaws in your smile that make you feel embarrassed every time you open your mouth? Do you notice that you always have a close-lipped smile in pictures? Do you wish you felt more confident in your appearance? We bet you do. If you said “yes” our Flushing, NY, cosmetic dentist, Dr. Zev Maybruch, is here to tell you how dental veneers could help.

What are veneers?

Veneers are thin tooth-colored shells often made from medical-grade porcelain. The porcelain is custom-made to cover the entire front surface of a tooth to become its new outer surface and to cover certain cosmetic imperfections to improve the appearance of one or more teeth. Veneers are bonded to the front of your teeth with dental cement, making them permanent cosmetic restorations.

What can veneers do for my smile?

If you are dealing with a less-than-perfect smile then our Flushing dentist might recommend veneers as a simple and reliable way to achieve a more attractive smile. Veneers can hide chips, cracks, gaps between teeth, discolorations, and misshapen teeth. If you have minor crowding you may also be able to get a straighter smile with veneers rather than turning to braces.

Of course, in order to truly find out if veneers are the right option for you, we will need to examine your smile to make sure it’s healthy enough for treatment and also discuss your treatment goals to ensure that veneers are truly the best approach.

Along with greatly altering and enhancing the color, shape, size, or alignment of your smile, the porcelain used is stain-resistant so you can enjoy drinking coffee or that glass of red wine without worrying about your restorations.

What does getting veneers require?

Once you come in for a thorough consultation to determine whether veneers are right for you the next step is to prep your teeth for your new restorations. Since these porcelain shells are very thin this means that we will only need to shave down a very small amount of enamel from the front of your teeth beforehand. This tooth prep is minimal and so local anesthesia usually isn’t required to numb the area.

From there, we will take impressions of your teeth and send these molds to a dental lab so they can create your new veneers. Once they are ready, you will come back in so that you can check the look and fit. When we know you are satisfied with the way your new smile looks, we will bond the veneers permanently to the front of your teeth.
